Kociara is a pseudonym of a London based textile and graphic designer, Marta Rusin. Kociara’s design style is pretty eclectic – the designs range from complex, conversational prints to simpler, geometrical and abstract de-signs. The patterns have of-ten been described as ‘elegant’ and many can be seen as influenced by art deco style.

About the artwork

"While designing for the challenge I imagined myself being a Victorian world traveller who seeks to explore and record the wonderful and previously unseen flora and fauna encountered. The cheerful and animated scene playfully juxtaposes colourful plants and birds intermingling with nature in their daily pursuits. The botanist captures the lively surroundings, the birds’ wings caught in the movement, the glimmers of light reflecting in the plants."

Working mainly with acrylics on canvas, Poppy’s unique style often features colourful drips and splatters. She likes to juxtapose clean lines and graphic elements, with large, intuitive strokes. "This artwork is created using my trademark “Drip” technique. Then I carefully paint-ed over some parts to create the colourful islands."

"Ana Nesimovski was born in Belgrade, Serbia. Her first two decades in art was occupied by ballet and contemporary dance. After her dancing career she studied Textile De-sign, Technology and Management. She has designed a vast number of ballet clothes, masks and tiaras for the children’s Theatre. Her main interest and inspiration is in textile and jewelery design."

It was also considered a paradise plant and a sacred plant belonging to the heavenly rulers and gods."
